We want everyone who visits the BATA website to feel welcome and find the experience rewarding. We therefore recognise the importance of making information about us; the services we offer and job opportunities accessible to all. Hence, we have made every effort to ensure that this website complies with accessible standards.
Many internet users with disabilities find websites difficult or even impossible to use simply because of the way they are designed. This website has been designed to be accessible and to be compatible with the types of adaptive technology used by people with disabilities including screen readers, screen magnifiers, etc.
Font sizes, High Contrast, Greyscale, BrowseAloud (Partially Sighted & Dyslexic), NVDA users( Totally Blind)
You may change the font size of this website through you browser. In Internet Explorer, select View, then Text Size and then your preferred size. Alternatively, if you have a mouse with a scroll wheel you can enlarge or diminish the font by pressing and holding the “control” button on your keyboard and moving the wheel. A high contrast setting is available for the whole site. Also, you can change to greyscale if you need to see the site in this way. Look for the icon on the right side of the home page and throughout the site. We have applied consistent placement of icons so that the site can be navigable by a range of user needs. For those using screen readers you will be able to use the TAB key to move around the website. To do this:-
- Using the toggle button change the screen display to “high contrast”
- Click on Orange BrowseAloud icon
- Click on Pointed finger icon
- Click on an area of screen to be read
- Start NVDA
- Using the tab key you can navigate all of the front page, menu bar which drives the whole content of the site
- At ” Skip twitter feed content” left click mouse button to get the tile content
- High contrast and greyscale can be accessed as a toggle switch on the right hand side of the screen half way down
Compliance with Standards
We are in the process of implementing a WCAG2 AA level of compliance with standards. At present the site does not meet that standard fully. We are working hard on this trying to resolve issues resulting from creating an attractive look and feel to the site which doesn’t make it easy for compliance. We are contracting an external agency to audit and give their recommendations. BATA is committed to providing these standards and so “walk the talk!”
We have worked hard on the BATA website to make it accessible to all. We monitor the website regularly to maintain this, but if you do find any problems , please don’t hesitate to get in touch. We are always keen to get your feedback to make improvements.
